The group project is a little much with everything we are working on, but I do believe the project will be helpful in planning events. I love working with my team they are both very smart and hard working.

Mary Carpenter did an amazing job explaining how the way we treat people determines the outcome of our encounters with them. The best way to get what we what or to get someone to do what we what is to be kind, be respectful, and be caring.

I'm happy to be working in a group on this project. I think between the 3 of us this project will be no problem for us.

Although I don't have staff, I am trying to get a friends group together. So far I have only talked to the people in my monthly book club about the friends group. I plan to motivate this group and get them to vote on the officers for the group the next time we meet. I plan to have a friends group in six months.

Performance managing

As of right now I am the only one that works in my library so there is no one there for me to evaluate. I do plan on doing the self-evaluation soon. Hopefully I can learn something to help me do a better job. In the future when I have employees I plan to use what we learned today to make us a stronger and more efficient team. I agree that people need constant feed back to help them do their jobs better and need to be either praised or corrected when needed.

Staff days

Having staff days are very important in running an efficient library. I believe all of the staff should get together to discuss ways to make the library better. Having the staff involved in the decision making helps them feel like part of a team. When the staff feel like their opinions really matter and their ideas are important it helps to keep them motivated to work hard and makes them feel appreciated. Staff days are also a way to keep the staff updated on what’s going on and what is expected of them.

6 Essentials for teams that work.

Today I watched the webinar for 6 Essentials for teams that work. I enjoyed the webinar and learned a lot, although I don't really have a team I work with on a daily basis. Without my co-workers watching this I don't see how what I learned is going to be helpful. There is no way to use number 6, alignment of authority and accountability, without them knowing we need to. That being said the webinar was helpful in other ways. As a team we do need to have trust and respect for each other. We also need to be willing to manage conflict not just ignore the complaints because its easier to pretend there isn't a problem. I truly like the idea of having an honest discussion where my opinion matters and my ideas are considered.
